I-86 Continues to Expand

Since the fall of 2003, the transformation of New York State Route 17, a four-lane highway that runs between Erie, Pennsylvania and New York City, into Interstate 86 has been underway. Much of the work in Chemung County is either complete or underway.

Slated for completion in 2009, I-86 will run from Corning, New York through Elmira, to Harriman in Orange County, New York, providing even easier access to major metropolitan areas.
