CHEMUNG — Construction is continuing on the 750,000 square foot CVS distribution center on White Wagon Road.
“Everything is going great,” said George Miner, president of Southern Tier Economic Growth, regarding the status of the project.
Weather permitting, the utilities to the center and the reconstruction of White Wagon Road will be completed by the end of this month, said Miner.
The reconstruction of the 59A interchange westbound ramp is scheduled to begin in the spring of next year, he added.
“(There are) no serious hiccups on the utility side,” he said. “Aqua Pennsylvania, Tri-County Electric, the Athens Township Authority, Valley Energy and NYSEG have all been extremely cooperative and supportive.”
The building is going up “very, very fast,” said Miner.
Paving on the parking lots is currently under way, he noted, adding that company officials are planning to have the building enclosed by the end of the year.
The entire CVS distribution center construction project is valued at approximately $87 million.
The facility will employ approximately 600 full-time workers. Construction is scheduled to be completed next year.
